The ceremony of the 4th edition of “PackTheFuture – The Sustainable Plastic Packaging Award”, organized by ELIPSO & IK, the two professional associations representing plastic and flexible packaging in France and Germany, took place on November 27th, 2018 in Paris at ALL4PACK , the must event of the packaging industry.
The Barbier Group has won the Eco-Design category for its “Low Fusion Film” innovation.
The advantages of this film for the industrialists are multiple:
– Reduction of the temperatures of shrink ovens from 20 to 40 °! When we know that ovens operate continuously 8 to 10 months of the year at an average temperature of 200 ° C to 240 ° C, this innovation represents a real gain for the environment and also an economic gain (decrease in energy expenses ).
– Reduction of the film thickness of approximately 10μm = less plastic consuming – 18%,
– Reduction of the carbon footprint with the incorporation of 20% post-consumer recycled content (17% reduction in CO2 emissions)
– Maintenance of the technical, visual and mechanical characteristics of the film
This innovation combines both ecology and economy, which makes the success of this new product among the group’s customers.
This innovation and this award illustrate very well the Barbier Group’s commitment to sustainable development.
